This piece came about at the beginning of the year (2024) where we are often awash with prophecy and visualizing our own good intentions for the coming year.
You can of course see her how you wish, but for me she represents the Soothsayer within.
She holds great truths and only exposes them through riddle and parable. I wanted her presence to bring life giving energy, igniting our capacity to believe in ourselves again, reminding us to unchain from the confines that keep us small.
She is telling us to have faith in our progress, as the intention and wisdom we use to take those quantum leaps will be reflected back with great rewards in the future.
Who will we find when we look outwards to the heavens but ourselves looking back, for we are of the earth and of the stars.
She was created in acrylics and oil pastels on premier canvas board.
Update 23/01/2024 I have now made a frame for her. The base is acrylic with Powertex and fabrics to bring texture, I cast the corner pieces with air drying clay. All is painted with metallic phthalo blues and greens, the same paints that I used in the painting and it is sealed with 3 coats of varnish for protection. It’s very unique and hope you agree suits the piece well!
