He is loosely based on the Leshy of Slavic folklore and for the most part is a solitary being living apart but never disconnected from other guardians in other forests. Each has their own temperament and the lay of the land and trees are reflective of their character.
I see this fellow as fairly gentle and easy going, he could narrate stories to the wildlife as he travels through the rampant undergrowth and wild mosses tending to the life force that gives vitality to all. He is one at peace with his tasks and if ever he should happen upon a human that has perhaps wandered too deep amongst this living green, he most probably has a reflex to hide his form becoming more deeply rooted. His limbs and features merging into foliage, masking himself and blending in with what he feels more at home with.
I was lucky enough to vision him with my minds eye and I channelled a lot of energy into him.
He was created in acrylics and oil pastels on 20″x 16” x 1.5″ box canvas.
