Beltane is the Gaelic Mayday festival. All of life is bursting with fertility at this point in the wheel of the year. The Maiden goddess is the manifestation of growth and renewal. Flora, the goddess of spring, the May queen, the May bride. The young oak king, Jack–in–the–green, as the green man falls in love with her. Together the May Queen and May King are symbols of the sacred marriage (or Heiros Gamos) the union of earth and sky.
Here the Goddess and Greenman were created in acrylics, gold leaf and hawthorn leaves. The frame was made specially for it with additional pine bark, mulberry paper, ivy and hawthorn leaves and dried hawthorn flowers surrounding the couple – a symbol of love, fertility and protection.

Beautiful piece of art work, looks fantastic on the wall. It is the second piece I have got from Zoe and cannot recommend her work highly enough. The spirituality it adds to our room is wonderful.
